Synopsis
This documentary begins with the 113-year history of the Friedrichstadt Palast from its construction in the 1860s to the closing of the building in 1980. The primary focus, however, is on the four-year rebuilding phase leading up to the first performance in 1984 as the GDR invested heavily in the new structure that would become Europe's largest revue theater.
Also featured are artistic rehearsals and performances, the stage and performance hall technology, programs for children and time-lapse footage.
