Synopsis

In honor of the 750th anniversary of the GDR's capital city, Berlin's famous landmarks are shown, including Alexander Square, Leipziger Straße, Schönhauser Allee, Friedrichstraße, Unter den Linden, the Theater House, and the Berlin Cathedral.

 

The film also traces the recent history of Berlin, depicting its rise to success following the rebuilding after WWII and the the founding of the Socialist Unity Party. Areas of particular emphasis are the city's political leadership, exemplary innovation in research and production, housing construction, and social programs.
