Synopsis

This documentary uses contemporary footage and historical drawings to describe numerous aspects of life in Leipzig. Topics covered included the city's history; famous residents; the lion as heraldic symbol; and local landmarks such as the farmer's market, train station, and harbor. The city industrial and cultural life is also featured in the form of the St. Thomas choir, the university, trade fairs, and Leipzig as the "city of books."
