Synopsis

Army officer Manfred von der Lohe (Jürgen Frohriep) returns to West Germany from a special training program in the United States, only to learn that he has been exposed to a potentially fatal dose of radiation during an atomic test. Political higher-ups, include von der Lohe's own father-in-law, want to send him and his wife to South America in order to cover up the incident and continue with a planned atomic armament project.

The couple refuses to keep quiet and instead seeks the help of Professor Soltau, a medical expert who strongly opposes atomic weapons. Although von der Lohe does not have much longer to live, he works to publicize the dangers of atomic warfare to the international community.
