Synopsis

One of the first works by acclaimed documentary director Volker Koepp, this portrait of filmmaker Slatan Dudow (1903-1963) follows his life and work in exile, painting a detailed picture of the Marxist artist.

Many clips from Dudow’s films are shown, including Kuhle Wampe, or Who Owns the World (1932), which was banned by the Nazis, and Soap Bubbles (1934), which he finished in French exile.

This film is available for purchase on the DVDs Kuhle Wampe, or Who Owns the World? and ARTS in EXILE. It can also be streamed.
