Synopsis
This short documentary presents the 1960 Cycling World Championships, which were hosted by the GDR. The crowning achievement for East Germany was when cyclists Bernhard Eckstein and Täve Schur took first and second place in the amateur road race. Schur, the defending champion and favorite to win, became a GDR sports legend when he sacrificed his personal success to ensure the victory for his team.
