Synopsis

This instructional film was produced by the Ministry of State Security (Stasi) and used for training new Stasi employees or informants about detailed surveillance that could lead up to an arrest of GDR citizens.

 

A young author who tries to publish his poems in West Germany is used as an example; the film gives a detailed description of a Stasi operation that involved this young man. The narrator opens the film by stating: “This video documents the general procedure and stages of processing a case, as well as the prevention and circumvention of serious political damage to the GDR."
