Maja, a thirty-something single mother, leads a very practical and stale life until she decides to risk it all by "bailing out." She quits her job, sells her country home, and moves to the city with her adolescent daughter, where she starts looking for a new job and new connections. In the process, Maja is confronted with unfamiliar situations and life experiences which she must face head-on.
Through all the changes, she continues to look for a fulfilling relationship. The affection of her lover, Tony the composer, turns out to be short-lived, and only time will tell if Gerd, Maja's boss and secret admirer, will turn out to be the great love of her life.
