Synopsis

Simone and Dieter are 20 years old. They have just had a baby and it would be the right time to start their life together as a family. But Dieter has to do his military service.

 

This film is about the civic responsibilities, doubts, and difficult situations faced by Dieter during his first six weeks in the army. An insightful glimpse into the East German National Peoples Army (NVA) shortly before the Wende. 

 

This student film by the acclaimed German filmmaker Andreas Dresen is included as a special feature on the DVD of Dresen's feature film debut Silent Country.
