Vacation in Sylt is a black and white compilation film about Heinz Reinefarth, a Nazi Party member, high SS police leader of Warthe, and later mayor (1951-1964) of Westerland/Sylt.
The beginning and end of the film show Reinefarth in the 1950s, in between which are film scenes, photos, and documents from the war period, all highlighted by the atrocities committed by the SS group in Warsaw during the uprising of 1944. The meeting of HIAG (Mutual Help Association of Former Waffen-SS Members / Hilfsgemeinschaft auf Gegenseitigkeit der Angehörigen der ehemaligen Waffen-SS) and “Panzermeyer” Kurt Meyer in Würzburg in 1957 are also extensively considered.
Part of the documentary series "Archive sagen aus" ("Archives Bear Witness"), the film portraits the fascist threat posed by West German reintegration of former Nazi officials.
