Lubosch, Ute

Biography:

Ute Lubosch was born on March 10, 1953 in Erfurt, Germany. She studied at the Academy for Theater in Leipzig. Stage engagements followed in Dresden, Nordhausen, Rostock, and Stendal.

 

Ute Lubosch debuted in front of the camera in the DEFA film Der Dritte. Thanks to her expressive face she displayed her versatility in numerous film and television productions throughout the 1970s and 80s, and is convincing in the Bruyn adaptation Glück im Hinterhaus as well as in the TV series Alfons Zitterbacke from 1986.

 

Since German unification she has continued to act occasionally in television as well as in major motion pictures such as Lola rennt and Abgehauen, based on the Manfred Krug memoir about leaving the GDR.

 

Lubosch also returned to the theater and was a guest at the Hebbel am Ufer in Berlin, Deutschen Nationaltheater in Weimar and played at the Störtebeker Festival. She has also taught at various schools for performing art, including in Berlin and Potsdam.
