Montag, Dieter

Biography:

Born in 1949, Dieter Montag trained as an actor at the Academy for Film and Television in Potsdam-Babelsberg from 1966-1970. His performances at the famous Berliner Ensemble, the Deutsches Theater, and the Schiller Theater have included classic and modern plays under directors such as Alexander Lang, Heiner Müller, and Frank Castorf.

 

Montag also performed in television and movie productions. One of his biggest succeses was his portrayal of the taxi driver, Harry, who falls in love with Sunny in Konrad Wolf’s box-office hit, Solo Sunny, ranked by critics as one of the Top 100 Most Significant German Films. More recently, he has acted in various television shows. From 1998-2003, he played the lead detective in the crime series Polizeiruf 110. As of 2007, he plays the father of the detective in a new TV police series, Notruf Hafenkante. Dieter Montag lives in Berlin.
