Kotte, Gabriele


Gabriele Kotte was born in Schwerin in 1949. After completing an internship at the East German television station, she studied theater at Humboldt University in Berlin from 1968 to 1970. She then went to the Academy for Film and Television in Potsdam-Babelsberg, graduating as a dramaturg for film and television in 1972.


Kotte joined the DEFA Studio for Feature Films in 1976. Her DEFA debut was with the scenario and co-script she wrote for Alle meine Mädchen. She continued to work as a DEFA dramaturg and scriptwriter until the studio closed in 1990.


Since 1991, Kotte has worked in various capacities for film funding associations in the German state of Mecklenburg–Western Pomerania. In 2002, she was honored with an advancement prize for her engagement in developing cultural film funding. Gabriele Kotte lives in Berlin.
